1% for the Planet

Arete Initiative is excited to share that we have recently joined 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses, individuals and nonprofit organizations tackling our planet’s most pressing environmental issues. The purpose of 1% for the Planet is to “Put people and the planet over profit.”

In 2002, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies created 1% for the Planet and started a global movement. 1% for the Planet’s mission is to bring dollars and doers together to accelerate smart environmental giving. 

For the team at Arete Initiative, being part of 1% for the Planet, an organization that is committed to giving back through direct donations to environmental nonprofits was an easy choice because it aligns with our purpose of people and organizations stepping into their highest potential.  

From our perspective, as participating nonprofit organizations grow their impact they ultimately make the world a better place, while simultaneously creating a world where people and organizations can achieve their highest potential - not just for today, but with the generations in our future. 

We are excited to support the nonprofits that we pair with, and even more excited about sharing where our journey with 1% for the Planet goes!
